Help
How can we help?
Where do I start if I want to sell?
Open the selling guide, answer a few questions, and follow it one step at a time. When you're ready, list your home free.
What happens after I list my home?
Your listing is saved as a private draft. Publish it from My listings when you're ready. We take a quick look first to make sure it's a real home for sale (usually about a day), and My listings shows “Live” when it's up. Buyers then see the city, neighborhood, price, details and photos, never your street address. When a buyer writes to you, the message appears in My listings. Check back often; email alerts are coming soon.
How do buyers reach me?
Through the “Contact the owner” form on your listing. You reply to them yourself by email or phone. You can also print a yard sign and flyer with a QR code from My listings.
How do I find an escrow company or a real estate attorney?
Search for “escrow company” or “real estate attorney” plus your city, and call two or three for a price. Check an escrow company's license at the DFPI license search ↗ and an attorney at the State Bar ↗.
I’m buying. Where do I start?
Open the buying guide. It walks you through getting pre-approved, visiting homes, making an offer with a professional's help, and closing.
Who writes the offer and contract?
Not DTO Homes. A California real estate attorney or a licensed broker does. See who does what when there's no agent.
How do I keep track of deadlines?
Use My contract dates to turn your contract's deadlines into calendar dates you can print or add to your phone.
What does this word mean?
How do I stay safe?
See stay safe from scams, with a printable “Call before you wire” card. In short: Never wire money based on an email or text; call escrow at a number you looked up yourself. Show your home by appointment with someone else there. Deposits only ever go to escrow. If a listing looks like a scam, use “Report this listing” on its page.
Does DTO Homes give legal advice or handle my sale?
No. DTO Homes is not a broker or law firm. Our guides are general information. We don't write or negotiate offers, set prices, or hold money. For anything unusual, ask a California real estate attorney or your escrow officer.
Can I make the text bigger?
Yes. Open the Menu and tap “Bigger text.” Your phone's own zoom works too.
Do buyers need an account?
No. Buyers can look at homes and use “Contact the owner” without signing up. Only sellers need an account.
How do I change or delete my listing or account?
In My listings: “Edit listing and photos,” “Unpublish,” or “Delete.” To delete everything, choose “Delete my account” at the bottom.
